Capital Area Community Services, Inc. is in need of a Maintenance Technician III to assist with maintenance of the properties and facilities based in Lansing, Michigan and serving surrounding counties.

Must have basic computer skills using email and a work order system.

The position is normally daytime hours Monday-Friday.

The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for performing routine building and grounds maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g., construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.). Will also assist with inspections and tours of the facilities, providing preventive maintenance services and institute corrective action on any deficiencies. The Maintenance Technician III may also perform general cleaning and other tasks as assigned to ensure minimal interruption to the operations of facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes all maintenance and repair work requests as assigned by the Facilities and Properties Manager. Tasks may include but not limited to plumbing, drywall repair, painting, light electrical, carpentry, landscaping, snow removal, furniture assembly, HVAC preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Accesses computer or mobile device in order to utilize the CACS/FMX work order system, will complete and document all maintenance tasks in a timely fashion minimizing downtime due to facility failures, ensuring all CACS grant policies and regulations are followed.
  • Assists with routine general maintenance such as simple room setups for meetings, moving furniture and performing heavier cleaning as necessary or as directed by the Facilities and Properties Manager.
  • Maintains all required logs, records and documentation necessary to uphold compliance with municipal codes and grant policies.
  • Perform basic mechanical repairs and maintain cleaning of building and grounds equipment as directed.
  • Notifies Facilities and Properties Manager of supply stock shortages to maintain adequate inventories.
  • Travel to multiple CACS locations to complete repairs or maintenance service as necessary.
  • Familiar with and adherences to CACS policies and procedures related to equipment, chemical safety, employee conduct rules and other regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in building maintenance or a construction trade, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of procedures, safety measures and commonly used concepts within one or more facilities maintenance field(s) is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and follow instruction. Basic computer skills (email and work order system) are essential.
  • Possess basic mechanical aptitude and have experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, pumps, HVAC, lock repair, etc. Boiler maintenance and testing is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record, and the ability to work at various locations throughout the day.
  • Must be flexible in availability to fulfill a variety of work shifts including schedules of days and occasional evenings. Standard work schedule is 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday, 30-minute lunch break.
  • Ability to frequently lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions, temperature conditions and varying heights safely.

Must satisfactorily pass federal criminal history check with fingerprinting, physical exam and TB assessment, and drug screen at the time of hire and periodically thereafter pursuant to federal and state laws, Head Start Performance Standards, and Agency Policy and Procedures.
